Electronic boards are modules that you can use in your robotic or electronic projects. These boards don’t have pinouts suitable for Arduino or Raspberry Pi like shields or HATs, but they can be used with any microcontroller including Arduino and Raspberry Pi. In electronic boards category motor driver, voltage regulator, relay and converter boards are listed.
Like shields and HATs, electronic boards are created by setting the appropriate circuits needed for the main IC with some extras like regulator circuits or communication circuits. The difference is they don’t have pinouts especially set to be suitable for any microcontroller platform.
Using electronic boards instead of shields in Arduino platform can be preferred due to possible pin conflictions between different shields. Although it is not easy to use electronic boards like shields, using electronic boards provides flexibility to the user. Any suitable microcontroller pin can be used while controlling electronic boards.
